From the tip of the pinky down to the wrist, the Mitten state is well represented in USA Today’s quest to find the best beer garden in the nation. Two Michigan beer gardens were nominated by panel of beer experts as the best spots to enjoy a beer outside in the United States. Now it’s up to readers to narrow the list down from 20 to 10.

Up North in Sutton’s Bay, Hop Lot Brewing Co. got a nod for its expansive, four-season layout. Pull off of scenic M-22 and roll right into a grove of trees with a sprawling amount of space dedicated to outdoor drinking and dining.

Whether you’re drinking a brew by the firepits, cornhole or the live music stage you’re dropped into Northern Michigan. It’s an especially epic view in the fall when the colors are turning, but in true Michigan fashion Hop Lot has fully embraced winter, too. The brewery has 18 heated igloos that pop up for a winter village.

“This nomination is truly rewarding as it validates the goal we set ten years ago,” co-owner Drew Lutke said. “Our dream of creating a space where locals and visitors alike can come and experience the natural beauty of all four seasons in the Traverse City area with their families and friends, while savoring delicious brews and vibing to the tunes of local musicians, has come to fruition!” RELATED: Northern Michigan brewery’s Igloo Village drops you into a whimsical snow-covered forest Last year, Hop Lot Brewing Company was named the No. 2 beer garden in the nation by USA Tod.
