Read More After the Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat the Chennai Super Kings in dominant fashion, the former RCB star, AB de Villiers hailed the franchise improving the balance within the squad which has resulted in the Rajat Patidar-led unit winning their first two games of the season. RCB went on to secure their first win at Chepauk against the five-time champions since 2008, and AB de Villiers lauded the franchise for their work done before the season. “The balance of the RCB squad is 10 times better compared to previous seasons," the Bengaluru franchise loyalist said on his podcast ‘AB de Villiers 360’.

“At the (IPL) auction (last year), I spoke about RCB needing balance. It’s not about the bowlers, batters or fielders..

. it’s about having a sound balance in IPL teams and options," said the South African great. The major change for RCB ahead of their second game of the season was the inclusion of the swing-bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and de Villiers was pleased to see a player of his calibre being available on the bench.

“I saw Bhuvi and thought ‘he wasn’t going to play and he came in’. That’s what you want. You want guys like ‘wow is this guy the replacement’.

He’s not even in the starting lineup in the first game (vs KKR) and now they are getting Bhuvi Kumar to replace someone in the second game. This is the kind of balance and depth .
