The strange feud between director Priyadarshan and legendary singer KJ Yesudas is an open secret in the industry. Not many are aware of the subject while surmises and rumors are aplenty on the issue. Singer MG Sreekumar has now clarified the matter.

He was responding to the issue in an online interview. M G SREEKUMAR: "Rumors still prevail in the industry about the infamous tiff between Priyadarshan and Yesudas. If I am to be honest, they were caught in a bitter experience once.



But, both are still good friends. Yesudas was in Madras to sing for Priyan’s movie ‘Cheppu’. When it comes to the singer, he religiously follows a pattern while learning the song.

He wouldn't appreciate anybody else than the music director being with him during the learning session. But during the recording, Priyan and a few of his friends came to the studio. Yesudas had a tough time learning the song and asked everyone to leave.

Despite the warning, Priyan remained inside the studio which further irked the singer. The singer asked him to leave when Priyan hit back saying he was the director of the movie. Yesudas was indifferent and demanded that the director step outside the studio.

The incident left Priyan in a rage and he decided to chop out the song from the movie. Despite this, the two never held a grudge and in the years to come after that, Yesudas rendered several classics for Priyan’s movies. Some others say that Yesudas would not allow any other singers to prosper and make all his col.
