The Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced it has temporarily halted its investigation into a Japanese woman in her 50s. Police said they requested her appearance but were unable to proceed further as she is currently overseas and is expected to remain so for a considerable period.
Under Korean police regulations, investigations can be suspended when a suspect remains abroad for more than two months and cannot be questioned, though the case itself remains open. The incident took place on June 13, 2024, the day after Jin completed his mandatory military service. During a fan event with around 1,000 attendees at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, the woman approached Jin for a hug and kissed him on the cheek.
The BTS member appeared visibly startled and uncomfortable, sparking online controversy and accusations of sexual harassment. The woman later wrote on her blog, “My lips touched his neck. His skin was incredibly soft,” drawing further criticism from fans.
