Known for his work on The Bourne Ultimatum and Ocean’s 12 , Nolfi’s involvement signals progress for the film after a series of setbacks involving previous writers. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the project is set 15 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker , focusing on Rey as a Jedi Master training a new generation of Jedi.

Well, may the Force be with her, as Disney has killed most of the Jedi in the Star Wars universe. Advertisement ▼ Development of the movie has faced challenges since it was announced. Steven Knight, who replaced Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson, exited the project late last year.

These frequent changes raised concerns about the film’s trajectory, especially after Disney reassigned a 2026 release slot originally speculated for the movie to Ice Age 6 . Nolfi’s hiring, however, offers a reassuring sign that the project remains active. While details about the plot remain limited, earlier reports indicated that the story would explore Rey’s efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order.

Whether Nolfi retains this premise or introduces new elements is still unclear. The movie has generated speculation about how it will fit within the Star Wars cinematic universe, especially with other high-profile projects like Shawn Levy’s Star Wars film and Dave Filoni’s The Mandalorian.
