William Towers (Letters, January 24) asks which of President Trump's policies we should see here in the UK. Here are three for his attention to get things started. 1 : Close the southern border to illegal immigrants – not "anti-immigration" as the left complain, but "anti-illegals".

Millions are to be saved daily from removing the costs of housing these thousands of young males in hotels and providing them with free healthcare ahead of UK taxpayers. What in France are they fleeing from other than lower levels of benefits, and why do no migrants flee the likes of Syria, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan to more local, culturally-connected, rich countries as UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar instead of the long journey across the whole of Europe? Saudi Arabia, with a population density approximately one-twentieth of the UK, is only 1,100 miles from Syria – a third of the distance to the UK. 2 : Cut overseas aid.



Why is it that the UK is providing £100 million (2024) to India, a country with a space programme and whose industrialists own many UK businesses? Why £53m to China? Why millions to the likes of Albania, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico? Are those countries more important than our elderly, our pressured health service and our failing transport network? 3 : Focus on utilising readily available home resources such as oil instead of pandering to the green agenda whose changes enforced on us have a minimal global impact and simply result in higher costs for all.
