As reported by Deadline , Ulrich Thomsen ( Banshee , Counterpart ) has been tapped to play the longtime figure in the upcoming HBO series, which is a part of the first wave of projects in the rebooted DC Universe titled “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters”. The Danish actor joins previously announced leads Kyle Chandler ( Friday Night Lights , Godzilla: King of the Monsters ) and Aaron Pierre ( Krypton , Rebel Ridge ), alongside cast members Kelly Macdonald ( T2 Trainspotting , Brave ), Garret Dillahunt ( No Country for Old Men , ER ), and Poorna Jagannathan ( Never Have I Ever , The Night Of ).

Advertisement ▼ Comprising eight episodes, the live-action outing follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. Creators Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King serve as co-writers and executive producers, with fellow executive producer James Hawes directing the first two episodes. A familiar face for comic book enthusiasts, Sinestro is a former Green Lantern turned rogue known to be “ruthless yet undeniably charming.



” “Sinestro’s manipulative nature drives his enduring obsession with his former mentee, Hal Jordan,” continues the official description of the character. The villain was created by John Broome.
