A MUM-OF-TWO revealed she was told her son was ‘a lazy boy’ when in fact he had cerebral palsy. Before the diagnosis, Kirsty told how she rushed Andre to medics numerous times after seizures – only to be told to “go home”.She said: “I kept getting told that he’s fine. He’s just lazy because he’s a boy.



”It was through her own research that she discovered that it could be cerebral palsy, a group of disorders that is diagnosed in around 150 Irish babies every year. National Cerebral Palsy Day was marked in Ireland this week and it is estimated that around 3,000 kids and 9,500 adults have the condition here. For Kirsty, she realised early on he was different.

She told The Irish Sun: “We picked it up at six months because he was missing milestones. But he wasn’t officially diagnosed until he was 11 months old.“That was just on how he presented, his body movements and things like that.

“But then he had an MRI which confirmed a brain injury when he was 14 months old.“That was through pushing and pushing and pushing and fighting for that. From birth I knew there was something wrong.
