GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes faced backlash after sharing his controversial opinion about a popular zoo animal on the show. During Monday’s visit (January 27) to the London studios, the 65-year-old broadcaster woke up the nation alongside his co-host Ellie Costello. The dynamic duo discussed some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines, including the rise of anxiety diagnoses across the country as well as the UK marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.
Later on in the show, the pair discussed the growing concern for two missing beavers who have escaped from the Mapperton Wildlands. Two four-year-old Eurasian beavers, named Woody and Twiggy had been living on the Mapperton Estate near Beaminster, Dorset as part of the rewilding project. It is understood the two furry creatures made their escape during the winter storms in the lead-up to Christmas.
Now, the public is being asked to look out for “gnawed treed” in the hunt for the missing beavers. But it’s fair to say not everyone on the GB News panel is a big fan on the lovable animal. As Ellie shared some of the positive traits about the river creature, Eamonn couldn’t help but look on with annoyance.
She explained: “The reduce flooding. They build natural upstream defences that slow water down hence reducing flooding downstream where its more populated.” He mumbled: “Really? Wow, whatever.
” It was at this point that his co-star Darren Grimes interrupted asking: “Why do you not like beaver.
