Death in Paradise fans think an exit could be on the cards for more than one character after the series returned on Friday night. The episode saw DI Mervin Wilson (played by Don Gilet ) trying his best to leave Saint Marie when the murder of a new police officer took place - and he couldn't help but interfere with the case. After passing the crime scene on his way to the airport, the detective noticed something suspicious about it, and he vowed to stay on the island until the case was solved.
While there, the Commissioner (Don Warrington) dropped a bombshell about DI Wilson's mother, who had recently died, which made him question whether he actually wanted to stay in Saint Marie. The episode also saw the return of beloved police officer JP Hooper (Tobi Bakare), who brought the Commissioner some bad news about his job. "Sergeant, Hooper, I thought you had a plane to catch," the Commissioner asked.
"Yes, I do," JP replied before dropping the bombshell. "But I wondered if I could have a chat with you. Have you got some time, sir?" The Commissioner nodded as JP continued: "So, there are some things I found out about at the headquarters back in Jamaica.
They loop me into these things, you know? "I shouldn't really be saying anything, sir, but after everything you have done for me, I thought it would be wrong if I didn't." "They are looking to change some things here," he added. "Streamlining and your position, Commissioner, they are going to dissolve it.
I am so sorry, sir." Fans .
