New Delhi: After hearing criticism from politicians and history buffs, filmmaker Laxman Utekar has decided to cut ‘Lezim’ dance sequence from his forthcoming film ‘Chhaava’, which is based on the life of Maratha warrior ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The song features Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai. Suggestions from Raj Thackeray In a meeting with Raj Thackeray, leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Laxman Utekar requested Thackeray's opinion on the matter, and he ultimately decided to implement it.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (Rashmika Mandanna) and Maharani Yesubai (Vicky Kaushal) danced to traditional music from Maharashtra using the lezim, an instrument having deep roots in the state's history and culture. "The meeting with Raj Thackeray was to seek his advice. His knowledge of history, especially regarding Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is extensive.



He provided valuable suggestions for changes, which we will implement. As for the scene featuring Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj playing 'lezim', we will delete it. It was not our intention to hurt anyone's sentiments," Laxman Utekar informed the media in an official statement.

He added, "We are removing the scene because it is not a significant part of the film. If people feel that the portrayal is inaccurate, we are willing to make this change. Our goal has always been to honour and showcase the greatness of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to the wor.
