AEW fans can expect Bobby Lashley and Swerve Strickland to resume their feud before long. This is according to Dave Meltzer. On Wrestling Observer Radio , he said that AEW opted to "table" Strickland vs.
Lashley after Full Gear 2024 (23 November), where Bobby defeated Swerve in around 13 minutes. Tony Khan's promotion plans on reprising the rivalry later this year, with the feud reportedly set to last a few more months. Strickland was an original Hurt Syndicate adversary upon the MVP-led group's arrival in AEW.
MVP was initially focused on recruiting Swerve away from manager Prince Nana and into the Hurt Syndicate, culminating in Strickland refusing to join MVP and fellow newcomer Shelton Benjamin. Lashley debuted soon after and the Hurt Syndicate kept Strickland in their targets, culminating in Lashley decisively defeating Swerve at Full Gear. Strickland and the Hurt Syndicate have largely been kept apart since then.
Swerve's focus has primarily been new heel Ricochet, whom Strickland is set to wrestle on the 5 February episode of Dynamite in College Park, Georgia. Lashley and the Hurt Syndicate, meanwhile, have gone from strength to strength in kayfabe. Shifting their focus into the tag division, Lashley and Benjamin dethroned World Tag Team Champions Private Party on the 22 January Dynamite, besting Zay and Quen in what was effectively a prolonged squash match.
There is currently no word on when, exactly, AEW will look to revive Swerve vs. Lashley, though Strickland's defe.
