Antiques Road Trip expert James Braxton suffered a “soul destroying” loss after shelling out £100 for an auction item. The shocking moment unfolded during a road trip with fellow expert Natasha Raskin Sharp, as the duo hit the Scottish antique trail from Alexandria to Glasgow hunting for hidden gems. Braxton, hopeful for a big payoff, stumbled upon a pair of Japanese Satsuma vases.
Despite their eye-catching design and intricate craftsmanship, the vases turned out to be less than perfect, sporting a poorly concealed crack patched up with tape. Braxton, known for his sharp instincts and expert eye, admitted being unsure about the purchase, but eventually decided to roll the dice, pouring nearly three-quarters of his budget into what he believed could be auction gold. The seasoned BBC host, aged 62, splashed out £100 on the vases, only to have them flop disastrously at auction, selling for a paltry £32 and netting him a gut-wrenching £68 loss.
"That's a very soul-destroying result," Natasha Raskin Sharp said, as the final bid sealed Braxton's fate. Antiques Road Trip experts were left disheartened after a significant mishap during an auction on a recent episode of the series. Ishy Khan and Irita Marriott, who each had a £200 budget, travelled from Kent through Suffolk and Norfolk, ending their journey in the Midlands in a bid to find valuable treasures.
Irita paired up with newcomer Danny Sebastian while Ishy went head-to-head with Irita in a bid to clinch victory. Ish.
