United Airlines Unveils New Nonstop Routes to Madeira and Faro with New York Celebration EventUnited Airlines recently teamed up with the Madeira Promotion Bureau and VisitAlgarve to host an exclusive celebration at NeueHouse Madison Square in New York City, spotlighting the upcoming launch of two exciting nonstop routes from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Portugal. The event brought together a vibrant mix of travel professionals, including tour operators, media representatives, and tourism stakeholders, to introduce new travel possibilities to the picturesque regions of Madeira and the Algarve.Slated for takeoff in summer 2025, these direct flights will enhance transatlantic access to two of Portugal’s most captivating destinations.

United’s new Madeira service will debut on June 7 and continue through September 23, offering three weekly departures from EWR—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—scheduled for 9:50 p.m. departures.



This seasonal route is designed to strengthen U.S.–Portugal travel connections and open up smoother links for American travelers to explore the island’s lush scenery, heritage, and coastal charm.

Meanwhile, the route to Faro in the sun-soaked Algarve region also promises to boost tourism flows and support greater engagement with Portugal’s southern gems. Both flights mark a significant step in United Airlines’ European expansion strategy and align with efforts by Portuguese tourism boards to raise visibility and access .
